01/01/12 - TennisWire is poised to grow and we are entertaining offers for expansion. In the meantime, we are suspending operations as of Dec. 31, 2011.

BRIEF HISTORY
Liza Horan, a tennis media leader who pioneered TENNIS.com and served as the longest-running president of the U.S. Tennis Writers' Association, founded TennisWire.org in 2004 as an independent entity to connect stakeholders and the media. The start-up was underwritten by a grant from the Tennis Industry Association and quickly became self-sufficient and profitable.

The TennisWire.org website and email database quickly grew to a network that included an editorial column, job listing service and online tennis-themed word games. Besides the monthly email newsletter for the public, TennisWire Bulletin, TennisWire Network published Q&As and other articles exploring the business side of the game and the rise of tennis in pop culture at HelloTennis.com. The weekly TennisWire Media Alert -- emailed to more than 600 verified editorial staffers who cover tennis -- has been the only independently sourced PR communiqué from a credible tennis industry insider to media peers. TennisWire engages thousands of media, stakeholders and fans across Twitter and Facebook.

As the media landscape continues to evolve, there remains a need for trusted, independent communications to the media, particularly as the full-time tennis corp shrinks.

TennisWire is profitable and poised to grow, and both the brand and its audiences would be best served by an expansion in the operations.
