03/28/06 - Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA – The ATP, the governing body of the men’s professional tennis circuit, today announced the expansion of its partnership with sports equipment leader HEAD/Penn Racquet Sports that will see HEAD become the official tennis racquet and tennis racquet bag of the organization. The three-year agreement builds on the ATP’s long-standing relationship with Penn, a partnership that began in 1993.

“This partnership strengthens HEAD's relationship with one of the most respected organizations in the global tennis community,” said Johan Eliasch, CEO of HEAD NV. "It also solidifies our leadership position on the ATP tour as thirty percent of the top 100 ATP touring pros already play with HEAD racquets. HEAD and the ATP are a natural fit between two internationally recognized leaders in tennis.”

HEAD will be the exclusive licensee as the ‘Official Tennis Racquet and Tennis Bag of the ATP.’ To leverage the joint brand recognition in the marketplace, HEAD will introduce a co-branded line of bags that will be distributed globally. Further programs, including a co-branded racquet, will be jointly developed with a special focus on China, the site of the Tennis Masters Cup for the next two years, and one of the most promising growth markets for the game of tennis.

“A great number of players on the ATP circuit use HEAD racquets for their renowned performance,” said Richard Davies, CEO of ATP Properties. “We are delighted to endorse this market-leading brand on a global basis and look forward to developing a successful range of co-branded products.”

The HEAD sponsorship joins Penn’s existing sponsorship as the ‘Official Ball of the ATP’ and the ‘Official Ball of the Tennis Masters Cup.’ Penn additionally sponsors 14 tournaments worldwide, including the nine ATP Masters Series events.
